Bryant Eddie Gilbert, 66, passed away on October 9, 2022 in Jacksboro, TX. Known throughout his childhood as “Butch”, Eddie was born in Brownwood, on December 16, 1956 to Billie Deen Gilbert and Nelda Joyce Wilson Gilbert. His family lived at numerous Air Force Bases before settling at Dyess AFB, Abilene, TX in 1966. Eddie attended Abilene High School graduating in 1974. He married his high school sweetheart Veta Sue Watson before joining the Navy. After his military service, he moved several times across the country before finally settling back in Brownwood where he followed in his Grandfather Edgar’s shoes as a truck driver. Eddie was married to Veta Sue Watson until their divorce. He is survived by his and Sue’s three children, Adam Martin Gilbert, Veta Joy Gilbert, and Caitlin Deen Gilbert, TX and eight grandchildren: Shay, JD, Aubree, Lucas, Ariel, Alexandria, Allison and Jackson. He is also survived by his sister Deena Joy Gilbert Canals, FL, brother Billie Deen Gilbert, Jr, TX, his Aunt Bennie Holt, TX, Aunt Delores Pennington, NM, Uncle William Thomas, TX, brother-in-law Richard Behney, TX, daughter-in-law Priscilla Ann Gilbert, his father’s cousin Judy Ford, TX, along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Doni Lea Gilbert Behney, his grandparents Edgar Deen Gilbert, Bertha May Holt Gilbert, Bryant Bennet Wilson and Dorothy Inez Tower Wilson, Aunts Sue Wilson Owen, Johnnie Wilson Thomas, Doris Gilbert Smith and Uncles Jerry Holt, Don Owen, Shelby Pennington, Franklin Smith. Eddie’s ashes will be interned alongside his mother Nelda at Greenleaf Cemetery, Brownwood, TX.
