Members of the Lyric Performing Arts Company gathered at the KOXE radio studios Friday morning, March 14, for a dramatic reading from the book, “Bygone Brown — Central Texas in the 19th Century” by Lamar Cravens, pictured at right. Copies of the book are available at Intermission Bookshop in downtown Brownwood. The 20-minute excerpt from the book explained how Greenleaf Fisk’s involvement in the fight for Texas independence resulted in his founding Brownwood, and why two streets and its cemetery are named for him. A podcast of the book can be found on YouTube and most other podcast host sites. Proceeds from book sales benefit the Brown County Historical Commission and Brown County Museum of history. Lyric players are also engaged in the production of the romantic comedy “Shakespeare in Love” sponsored by Intermission Bookshop with shows continuing on weekends through March 30. Pictured with Cravens from left to right are Shannon Dennis, Drex Holt, Domonique Glaeske, Jonathan Harvey, and Walker Willey.
