Cattlemen of Brown County

John Jefferson Driskill was a Texas cattleman in the 1870’s in Brown County. His sons; John Wiley, Jesse Lincoln, and Samuel Lafayette, were also cattlemen. Cattle ranchers led herds that sometimes numbered from 1000 to 6000 head. They went up the Chisum Trail that John Chisum blazed out and other trails and crossed the Red River, to go to Western Kansas. They had to deal with stampedes, storms, dry weather, lack of water, and Native Americans that sometimes wanted to steal the cattle or get them by threat of harm.

How To Stretch Your Grocery Dollars

Drop High-Cost Habits

If you’re in the habit of eating fast food or other restaurant food, you can save money by eating at home more often.

Avoid buying food that is already cut up or prepared in some way.

Stop wasting leftovers or letting food spoil before it can be eaten.
