BROWNWOOD - Funeral services for Billie Sue Thomas, age 93, of Brownwood, will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 7, 2022, in the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Skaggs and Bro. Bill Allen officiating with James Ervin leading music. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

SAN SABA - Earl Carney Patrick age 97, of San Saba Texas, went to be with the Lord and Savior on April 30, 2022. Earl was born December 9, 1924, in Mercury in San Saba County, Texas to Lester Butcher Patrick & Della Ann Smith Patrick.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, to an Irish immigrant father, Patrick Francis Lande, and German mother, Hilda Hughes Lande, Helen Marie Lande Perrin spent 45 years in Brownwood and considered herself a native. Known for her intelligence and wit, she was valedictorian at Saint Saviour High School in Brooklyn, received a B.A in History (Summa cum Laude) from Saint Joseph’s University in Brooklyn, completed a summer fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, received an M.A. in Education and an M.A. in Psychology (both Summa cum Laude) from Saint Joseph’s University, and also pursued a PhD in Psychology. Helen ranked first out of 500 teachers in the 1956 Five-Part Competitive Examination for Permanent Tenure among High School Teachers of Social Studies in New York City and also placed first in a similar examination for junior high school teachers.

ABILENE - Alva Lee (Kelley) McCoy, age 84, also known as“Grammy” to her grandchildren, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at an Abilene nursing facility after a battle with and complications from the COVID-19 virus she contracted in late December 2021. Sandra Trent passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 2,2022. She was born in Clovis, NM on March 30, 1939, to Claudine and Jewel Darr.

Pratt, KS - Billie Fay Davis, 92, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. She was born on June 28, 1929 in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Emmit Lee and Gracie Lee (Nelson) Evans. Billie graduated Hobert High School, Hobart Oklahoma in 1947. She worked for Elkview Hospital in Horbart, Ok as a cook. She was a member of The Pratt Baptist Church and the ladies guild. She loved to Watch T.V. and was an excellent cook. Billie was a very good seamstress and made a lot of her girls school clothes.

Renee (Letholt) Richards, 68, died Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Services were held on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Ascension Lutheran Church and burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, KS.

Mildred Grace Walker, age 93, of Burlingame, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, KS. She was born on July 19, 1928 in Iuka, KS the daughter of Clinton Mott and Clara (Brown) Mott. Mildred graduated from Mullinville High School, Mullinville, KS, with the Class of 1946.
