Lions take care of Irvin 63-0; will face Canyon next in Midland
ODESSA – The Brownwood Lions took care of business Thursday night and blew out the overmatched El Paso Irvin Rockets 63-0 in a Class 4A Division I bidistrict football game at Ratliff Stadium. Ninth-ranked Brownwood (9-2) entered the game a 60-point favorite in the Padilla Poll over Irvin, which finished 2-9.

NO EASING INTO PLAYOFFS
The Zephyr Bulldogs completed their remarkable turnaround last Friday, beating the Blanket Tigers 38-30 to win the District 15-1A Division II football championship with a 9-1 record – one year after finishing 0-10. The Bulldogs were rewarded for their significant accomplishment with a bidistrict matchup against nine-time six-man state champion Richland Springs.

The Brownwood Lady Lions, who play their second game Saturday at Merkel, are facing a major rebuilding season. Shooting guard Mady Pyle is the only returning starter from last season’s 20-14 team that finished third in district and fell to Graham in bidistrict.
