After a challenging nondistrict schedule, a bye week on Sept. 30 was exactly what the Early Longhorns needed.

Howard Payne linebacker Kyle Bell was named American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Yellow Jackets’ 30-18 win last Saturday over the McMurry War Hawks. A graduate student HPU, Bell led all tacklers in the War Hawks-Jackets game with 15, including 11 solo stops.
