FRISCO (AP) — The Dallas defense has done a little more each week during Cooper Rush’s four-game winning streak filling in for injured quarterback Dak Prescott. With three players suspended for Friday night’s game, all the Brownwood football players had to step up. But none more than Chance Jones.

BALLINGER – An unexpected rain storm on a grass, and eventually muddy, field on the road in the district opener proved to be no problem for the Early Longhorns’ football team Friday night. Kaleb Ozuna rushed for two touchdowns, and Early’s defense limited Ballinger’s offense to a minus-33 total yards as Longhorns shut out the Bearcats 36-0 in District 2-3A Division II opener.

The games that Brownwood head football coach Sammy Burnett has continually said his Lions were preparing for during the last six weeks have finally arrived. Brownwood (4-2) will open the District 2-4A Division I schedule against the Big Spring Steers (4-2) at 7 p.m.
