Lions enter 4A poll at No. 10
The Brownwood Lions appeared in the texasfootball.com statewide rankings this week for the first time this season at No. 10 in Class 4A Division I.
Armadillos are 4-0 for District 5-2A opener
The San Saba Armadillos have reestablished much of the formula they used to win 35 of 40 games from 2018-2020 to revive their football program this season. After finishing 2-9 last season, fourth-year San Saba head coach Andreas Aguirre has the Armadillos playing stingy defense, which was one of the factors that helped them advance to the state semifinals in 2018 and the quarterfinals in 2019.

The Cowboys converted, beat Cincinnati when few thought they would after a poor offensive showing in a season-opening loss and might have made it considerably easier to navigate their path without Prescott, however long it is.

Lions’ defense, second-half offense tame state-ranked Glen Rose in 17-3 win
The Brownwood Lions found out about at 2 p.m. Friday that Glen Rose quarterback Hudson White, who had accounted for 79 percent of the No. 7-ranked Tigers total offense in their first three games, was out with a leg injury.

Early blanks Troy, 26-0, to end skid
EARLY – Caleb Ozuna made 16 tackles, and Jeremy Brown returned an interception for a touchdown Friday night as the Early Longhorns’ defense shut out the Troy Trojans 26-0 in a Class 3A nondistrict football game.
May wins with passing game
MAY – With Garden City’s defense positioned to stop May’s typical running game, the Tigers went to the air and threw eight touchdown passes in Friday night’s 63-34 Class 1A Division I nondistrict football win over the Bearkats.
