The Brownwood Lions found out about at 2 p.m. Friday that Glen Rose quarterback Hudson White, who had accounted for 79 percent of the No. 7-ranked Tigers total offense in their first three games, was out with a leg injury.

EARLY – Caleb Ozuna made 16 tackles, and Jeremy Brown returned an interception for a touchdown Friday night as the Early Longhorns’ defense shut out the Troy Trojans 26-0 in a Class 3A nondistrict football game.

MAY – With Garden City’s defense positioned to stop May’s typical running game, the Tigers went to the air and threw eight touchdown passes in Friday night’s 63-34 Class 1A Division I nondistrict football win over the Bearkats.

Brownwood head football coach Sammy Burnett has said repeatedly that he prefers to play a tougher nondistrict schedule – even if it means losing some games – to going undefeated against a softer schedule. His philosophy is that tougher nondistrict opponents will better prepare his team for district and beyond.
