HICO -- The Brownwood Lady Lions finished fourth out of 24 teams with 177 points in the varsity girls’ division on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Bluebonnet Invitational cross country meet. The Brownwood Lions finished 12th out of 16 teams with 290 points in the varsity boys’ division.

The core of his offensive coaching staff made the trek and a handful of players looking for fresh starts or more playing time have been trickling in ever since.
Mike Lee / Brownwood Bulletin Howard Payne kick returner Otis Lanier was named Special Teams Player of the Week in American Southwest Conference football after returning a punt 77 yards for a touchdown in Saturday’s 59-45 win over Texas Lutheran in the season and conference opener. Lanier, a senior from Houston, also returned two kickoffs for 44 yards and caught four passes for 32 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown reception.
