There are far fewer surprises on the first day of official preseason practices for Texas high school football as UIL rules began allowing organized preseason workouts for practically the entire summer.

Monday marks the official start of high school football preseason practices, with coaches racing the clock to prepare their teams for the Aug. 25-27 regular-season openers. Coaches in Central Texas this year will also have to manage the heat more than normal.
