Maudella Lucile Reeves, 81, of Winters passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022. She was born November 20, 1940 in Winters to John and Lucille Hill. She grew up in Winters and graduated from Winters High School in 1958. She later attended Draughn’s Business School in Abilene. She was a long time member of the Winters Methodist Church where she started attending as an infant and was baptized at the age of 9. As she grew older, she was an active member in the children’s Sunday School Classes and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. As an adult, she taught children and youth Sunday School Classes, she taught Vacation Bible School, and was involved with the children’s programs of the church for many years. She married John Reeves in 1970, and he preceded her in death in 1983. They lived in Abilene where she was a secretary for the Texas Department of Health for many years. After retirement, Maudella moved back to Winters and at one time was the director of the Winters Food Pantry/Clothes Closet, which is now the Samaritan’s House. Recently, she was living in the Northern Oaks Living and Rehabilitation Center in Abilene.
She is survived by close friends: Pat Emmert of Austin, Naomi Harrison of Abilene, Millie Lozano of Winters, and Jean Gibbs of Winters.
Funeral services for Maudella will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Northview Cemetery under the direction of Winters Funeral Home.
