EARLY — Two out-of-town residents remained jailed Monday on drug charges after a police officer stopped their vehicle in the Heartland Mall parking lot Saturday because the driver failed to yield the right-of-way.
Police seized cocaine and marijuana and will seek a warrant on a third person in the vehicle who was taken to the hospital after having a seizure, police said.
Officer Andre Smoot arrested Billy Yates, 26, of Kemper, and Rebecca Ward, 28, of Copperas Cove, Brown County Jail records state.
According to an email from Early police:
Smoot smelled marijuana as he approached the vehicle and officers had all of the occupants get out. Officers discovered the suspects had taken several baggies of marijuana and stuffed them into a Cheetos bag to hide them under the Cheetos.
