A trio of events this weekend in Brown County is geared to stir up some excitement, with a pair of musical performances, including the likes of a popular Texas country artist, and the continuation of the elegant Starts of Texas Juried Art Exhibit.

1.    Kevin Fowler hits Waylon’s and Ray’s

 

Texas country artist Kevin Fowler is scheduled to perform at Waylan and Ray’s on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets for $15 may be paid in advance and $20 at the door. Contact information for the business located at 411 S. Broadway St. is 325-643-1222.

The singer-songwriter from Amarillo has dropped five studio albums with four singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including the too-40 hit “Pound Sign (#?*!).

2.    Jessie Jennings to perform at The Oasis

 

On the same night, country artist Jesse Jennings will perform at The Oasis (1070 W. Commerce St.) from 9 to 11 p.m. There will be an $8 cover charge. Jennings is a singer-songwriter from Dublin but us now based in Fort Worth. The consists of Brent Wall (electric guitar), Brian Williams (drums), Tracy Neff (bass) and Corey Nicole (tambourine), with Jennings as the vocals.

Jennings will play Friday night in Stephenville at Bostocks Billiards & Bar before playing in Brownwood the night before Valentines Day.

3.    18th annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit

 

The showing of elegant art pieces will continue through Feb. 19 at the Depot Civic & Cultural Center, where more than 100 pieces of art, including paintings and photography, by Texas artists will be on display. Thursday and Friday will each feature three different artists demonstrating their work. On Saturday, the gallery will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The paint-off competition and silent auction will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Paint-off awards will be at 4 p.m.
