A Brownwood man died Monday of injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle accident Saturday night in Brownwood, police said.
Salamon Luis Nava, 40, was pronounced dead at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene at 11:54 a.m.
According to an email from Brownwood police:
Police, firefighters and Lifeguard EMS personnel responded at 9 p.m. to the area of Burnett Drive and Virgil Gray Street. Officers observed a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup stopped in the middle of the road across both lanes of traffic.
It appeared, for unknown reasons, the pickup left the roadway and traveled up an embankment where it struck a large rock, causing it to roll over. The pickup then traveled back onto the roadway and stopped. Based on the observations at the scene, it appeared the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Nava was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center, where he was stabilized and then flown to the Abilene hospital.
“We we received word (Monday) from Hendrick Medical Center that Mr. Nava succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 1154 hours,” police said in the email.
“We ask that you keep the family of all involved in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.”
The Department of Public Safety assisted in the investigation.
