Early — The City of Early awarded a local paving contractor nearly $12,000, through a contract awarding method, in exchange for the reconstruction of six city roads.

Council members agreed Tuesday evening to issue $11,959.20 to Kelcy & Son Paving Contractors. The City of Early would provide the necessary material to the contractor in order to repair the following roads: Virginia Avenue, Sherry Lane and Eastwind Drive ($5,781), and Inez Street and Rainbow Drive, along with a short route ($6,178.20).

The working material would be dropped near those roads, which the working crew would then spray liquid asphalt and resurface. Kelcy & Son would provide the necessary equipment and labor.

In an unrelated manner, council members appointed council member Joel Johnson to serve as a member on the Early Economic Development Board, to fill the open slot.
