United Supermarkets donated a check in the amount of $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Brown County on Tuesday morning as part of the grocery store’s 100 Days of Giving campaign.

The campaign consists of a $1,000 donation to a different local non-profit in one of the 41 United Family communities for 100 consecutive days in celebration of the 100th anniversary of United Supermarkets.

“We’re excited that we were able to donate this money and have it being put to good use for the community,” Store Director Lynn Day said about the Brownwood youth organization.

Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Danny Willingham said he was grateful for the supermarket’s (302 E. Commerce St.) donation.

“It’s definitely going to help keep the place running. That is important,” he said.

Earlier this year, Good Samaritans Ministries in Brownwood was also a recipient of a check in the same amount.

Also, the United Family has launched Shop to Support Schools, a school donation program that challenges community members to get involved and help improve the future of local children.

Today, the United Family operates United Supermarkets, Market Street, Albertsons Market and Amigos grocery locations, as well as United Express fuel and convenience stores throughout West Texas, Dallas Fort-Worth and Eastern New Mexico.

The hours for United Supermarkets in Brownwood are Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
