A Brownwood man who allegedly flushed methamphetamine down a toilet as deputies breached an apartment door remains in the Brown County Jail on multiple charges, with bonds totaling $140,000.
Juan Robles, 23, was booked Friday on three charges of evidence tampering and two charges of possession of a controlled substance, jail records state.
According to a report by deputy Carlyle Gover:
Gover and other deputies served a search and arrest warrant for Robles’ apartment in the 1700 block of Magnolia in Brownwood. Robles was alleged to be “a major methamphetamine distributor in Brown County,” Gover’s report states.
Deputies served the warrant and arrested Robles’ girlfriend, Phliscity Russell, 19, on a charge of possession of marijuana. Russell was the only person in the apartment and deputies found a small amount of marijuana, in addition to paraphernalia and packaging.
Deputies later located Robles at an apartment in the 4200 block of U.S. Highway 377 in Brownwood. The renter of the apartment, who was not inside, gave deputies permission to breach the door.
Gover and Brownwood police narcotics detective Aaron Taylor entered the apartment and spoke with Robles, who was in the bathroom, and a woman in a bedroom. Taylor noticed that Robles’ hands were wet. Robles was searched and found with a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue.
The woman told deputies Robles flushed a large bag of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana down the toilet as deputies breached the door.
Deputies arrested Robles and seized $2,080 in cash. As deputy Taylor Fletcher drove Robles to jail, Fletcher noticed Robles moving around. At the jail, Fletcher found a baggie of crushed and partial tablets of what appeared to be alprazolam.
