Jennifer Johnson of The Pixie Plum will host a Christmas-themed holiday craft party at the Heartland Mall Chick-fil-a on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Attendees will receive a Chick-fil-a dinner, a blank 16-by-18 inch wooden sign and a stencil to use while painting it. There are six stencil designs to choose from, including a Texas outline, a “Welcome to our home” stencil and four Christmas patterns.

Registrants can pick which stencil they want while buying tickets online.

Johnson said she began The Pixie Plum about a year ago, painting custom, decorative wooden signs for customers. She said she began holding events and painting parties a few months ago. “That’s really taken off, and it’s been a lot of fun,” she said.

Johnson said she would work through the painting process step-by-step with partygoers. “I provide them with the blank wood and the stencil and all the paint,” she said, “and then we go through all the steps—doing the background color, applying the stencil and then painting.”

She said the craft was appropriate for adults of all ages. “I have people from 18-year-olds all the way to 70-year-olds that come to my parties,” Johnson said. She encouraged inexperienced painters to come out and participate.

“You definitely don’t need any experience with painting or crafting to make a great sign,” she said.

On the event’s Facebook page, Johnson said participants could arrive early and eat before the painting begins or eat later while their signs dry off.

Tickets are available for $40 at www.squareup.com/store/thepixieplum/item/chick-fil-a-wood-painting-signs or through The Pixie Plum Facebook page. Participants must buy their tickets in advance, and should mention which stencil design they would like in the buyer’s notes at checkout.
