Brownwood police arrested a man with a small amount of marijuana Wednesday after responding to a report that a man displayed the substance in a store, police said.
Detective Aaron Taylor arrested Mark Yassen, 51, on a charge of possession of marijuana under 2 ounces, Brown County Jail records state.
    According to Taylor’s report:
A store employee in the 200 block of Main said a man asked about merchandise, then produced what the employee believed was marijuana.
The man told the employee he does home remodeling and provided a phone number in case the employee wanted to talk any further about a home remodel. The man left the store and rode away on a bicycle.
Taylor and Cpl. Brandon Johnson located the man getting off his bicycle in the 500 block of East Commerce. Taylor smelled the odor of burnt marijuana as he spoke with the man, who said he had marijuana, but only enough to fill a cigarette.
Taylor searched the man and located a bag with marijuana, in addition to a homemade aluminum foil marijuana pipe.
In an unrelated incident, Brownwood officer Roberto Rodriguez arrested Casey Durant, 38, and Damon Rayburn, 40, both of Brownwood, on charges of disorderly conduct after responding to the 2300 block of Austin on a report of a fight between two males.
Witnesses said the two had cursed and threatened each other, and one witness made a video of the incident. Rodriguez watched the video and heard the two cursing at head other.
“I also observed Rayburn activating a taser and threatening Durant with it,” Rodriguez’s report states. “I saw in the video that Raburn and Durant kept cursing at each other while a school bus was picking up children next to them.”
