Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are a few ways to spend your time:

n Stars of Texas Paint-Off Competition at the Depot Civic & Cultural Center, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today

Ever want to see an artist in action? During the Paint-Off competition, artists have just a few hours to prepare a brand-new piece for judging, and the winner will receive a $500 cash prize. It’ll be high-stakes, fast-paced artistry on display on the exhibit’s final day. Plus, interested buyers can bid on the original works in a simultaneous silent auction.

n The Beverly Hillbillies at Brownwood’s Lyric Theatre, 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Lyric Theatre is back with its first production of the new year. Join the Clampett family for “an evening of hillbilly hilarity,” according to the Lyric website. “The play follows them through the discovery of oil” and their improbable arrival in old-money Beverly Hills. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and available online at www.brownwoodlyrictheatre.com.

n Early Texas Brings Hyp3 at Travelers Dance Hall, 3 p.m. Sunday

This cardio fitness class involves lots of dancing and sweating. It’s a great opportunity to get back on a healthy track, and bringing a few friends for accountability always helps, too. Tickets are $20 and available on the event Facebook page or at Inspire Fitness.
