The Brownwood Art Association will hold a garage sale at its downtown Art Center location on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sale will include art and art supplies left at the center, and comes as the Art Association prepares for its 90th anniversary gala on Mar. 2.

Amanda Coers serves as publicist for the Art Association. Coers said the sale will be made up of art the center has accumulated since its 2005 opening. “A lot of times artists will forget paintings,” Coers said. “They’re just looking to clean out quite a bit of that.”

Coers said the sale may involve various art supplies as well, as the center has collected quite a bit of material. “I know that they have a lot of other supplies, and sometimes frames, and they might throw some matting materials in there as well,” she said. “We have an abundance, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they sold a bunch of that as well.”

Whatever the Art Association does not sell will be donated to a charitable organization, Coers said. Art Association members with art left at the center have the opportunity to collect their works this week before the sale.

The 90th anniversary of the Art Association is tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 22. It will be celebrated on Mar. 2 with a “Roaring Twenties”-themed gala with antique cars, a photo booth, a costume contest and door prizes.

The Art Center is hoping to be much more organized by that time. It is located at 215 Fisk Ave.
