The theft of three DVD movies valued at $58 at Walmart led to an evading arrest charge for the alleged thief, who was arrested following a foot pursuit, Brownwood police said.
Police arrested Jason Guerrero, 37, on the evading arrest charge Saturday and on a charge of theft of property under $50, Brown County Jail records state.
According to a report by officer Jayme Bowman:
Bowman was dispatched to Walmart at 4:08 p.m., and dispatch radioed that the suspect had fled on foot. Bowman listened to other officers’ radio calls who saw the suspects running, and Bowman encountered the suspect in the CVS parking lot.
Bowman had to chase the suspect on foot before he and other officers took him into custody.
At Walmart, Bowman learned that two Walmart employees heard the sound of someone opening packages in a restroom. A man identified as Guerrero left the restroom and walked past cash registers. An employee confronted Guerrero in the grocery vestibule and asked him if hey had anything in his pockets.
Guerrero pulled the DVDs from his pockets, pushed an employee and took off running.
