Jeff Spivey, a 1985 graduate of Bangs High School, has been named as the new police chief of Irving.
Spivey has held the assistant chief’s job since 2011. He joined the Irving Police Department in 1986. His career experience spans numerous departments, including patrol and criminal investigation. Since 2008, he has led each command services bureau: investigative, administrative and operations. Over the years, Spivey has developed programs that have helped forge strong relationships throughout Irving’s diverse community.
He has a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management from Sam Houston State University, in Huntsville, Texas, as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Science from Midwestern State University, in Wichita Falls, Texas where he graduated Summa cum Laude. Spivey’s law enforcement training is extensive, including graduating from the FBI National Academy, as well as Senior Management Institute for Police. He currently is serving on the Jack E. Singley Criminal Justice Advisory Board. Spivey also is involved in numerous civic and professional organizations.
Spivey is the son of Pat Spivey of Bangs and Eddie Spivey of Brownwood. He is married to the former Melissa O'Neal of Early.
