EARLY — Frankie Wilder, one of three candidates in the Early mayor’s race, said incumbent Mayor Bob Mangrum and the current city council are doing a good job, but Wilder just wants to help the community if anyone wants a change.
Wilder, 63, texted information about himself after declining to be interviewed for articles on Mangrum and another challenger, Frankie Wilder, published in Sunday’s edition.
Wilder said via text message he was born and raised in Early and graduated from Early High School. He worked as a Verizon telephone engineer for 31 years before retiring, and served as an Early volunteer firefighter for 28 years.
    The election is May 6.
In addition to the mayor’s race, four candidates are seeking two city council seats. Candidates are incumbent Joel Johnson, Travis Eoff, Amy Beam and Noah Williams.
