A Brownwood man was sentenced recently in 35th District Court to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to assault against a public servant.
    District Judge Steve Ellis sentenced Marcos Danniel Mares Jr., 37, to the 30-year term and to a 15-year term after Mares pleaded guilty to attempting to take a police officer’s weapon, according to information from District Attorney Micheal Murray’s office.
    Mares was arrested in August 2016 after an officer made a traffic stop and smelled marijuana, police said earlier.
    A struggle ensued in which Mares struck an officer and tried to take another officer’s gun.

    Jason Michael Womack, on probation for delivery of a controlled substance — drug free zone, was revoked and sentenced to four years in prison.
    Steven Lynn Navarro, on probation for possession of marijuana — drug free zone and possession of a controlled substance — drug free zone, was revoked and sentenced to three years in prison.
    Alicia Diana Green, on probation for possession of a controlled substance — drug free zone, was revoked and sentenced to two years in prison.
    Jonathon Colby Moore pleaded guilty to forgery against elderly and possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to two years in prison.
    Pamela Gayle White, on probation for delivery of a controlled substance, was revoked and sentenced to two years in prison.
    Roger Claud Barnett, on probation for possession of a controlled substance, was revoked and sentenced to 15 months in state jail.
    Alfred Lewis Vasquez, on probation for possession of a controlled substance, was revoked and sentenced to 14 months in state jail.
    LeSheba Shedonna Convington pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm by felon. After testimony presented by the state and defense, Ellis convicted Convington and sentenced her to 25 years in prison.
    Dennis Dwayne Bradley pleaded guilty to burglary of a habitation and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Bradley pleaded guilty to theft — enhanced and was sentenced to two years in state jail.
    Joshua Lee Maldonado pleaded guilty to forgery and was sentenced to five years in prison.
