The Brown County Museum of History on Tuesday announced the launch of Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The program provides families an opportunity to enjoy the nation’s cultural heritage and learn more about their community, especially after a military move. A list of participating museums is available at

History lays the ground work for strong communities; therefore, touring our History Museum will give you great information about how this wonderful community began.

The Brown County Museum of History is located at 209 and 212 North Broadway, Brownwood. Business hours are Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $3 for 5 years old and over, $2 for Seniors and during the summer active military families are free.
