A deal for the sale of the old Central Fire Station in Brownwood, located at the intersection of Main Street and Austin Avenue, may be announced next week.
The agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Brownwood Municipal Development District directors lists “consider sale of Old Main Station” following a closed session on several topics, including deliberation regarding real property.
The Brownwood Fire Department vacated the property in April 2015 when the department moved into its new facility at 600 E. Adams. Later in 2015, the Brownwood City Council approved the sale of the property to the Brownwood Economic Development Corp. — now the Brownwood Municipal Development District — to market the property for business development.
The sale, if approved Tuesday by the Brownwood Municipal Development District board, would require ratification by the city council, City Manager Emily Crawford said Saturday via text message. Crawford did not release further details on the potential sale.
