Preston Browne, the Brownwood man charged with murder in the May 20, 2017 shooting death of Larry Irvin, signed a jury waiver Friday in 35th District Court and is expected to enter an agreed plea next Friday, District Attorney Micheal Murray said.
Murray declined to comment on the nature of the plea bargain for Browne, 26. Browne’s attorney, Tommy Adams, could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon.
The August session of the Brown County Grand Jury returned indictments against Browne for murder, evidence tampering and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the shooting at 304 N. Greenleaf.
Browne remains in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $610,000.
Browne is accused of shooting Irvin in the head with a shotgun after arriving at the residence, where Irvin was inside with other individuals.
Browne fled on foot after the shooting and disposed of the shotgun, which police recovered, according to earlier police reports.
