The Corinne T. Smith Animal Center has worked hard to reduce the number of euthanized animals. That also means more animals need to be housed for longer periods of time, which can lead to overcrowding, illness and lower quality of life for the animal.

Ways the community can help:

• Spay/neuter and microchip your pet

• Foster a cat or dog

• Transport animals to rescue shelters

• Volunteer at the center

• If you own a dog, make sure a fence is in proper condition to hold the dog in the yard.

• Brownwood Police Chief Terry Nichols reiterated: “Spay and neuter your pets. Be responsible pet owners and help get the population out here down to a reasonable level, what it’s designed for.”
