Brownwood Pregnancy Care Center Board Member Amy Seymour announced Comedian Heather Land will be the guest of honor for the organizations bi-annual banquet in 2019.

With previous guests such as former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow, Seymour said the organization wanted to go in a different direction in 2019 and sought a performer who could provide insight as a mother while simultaneously providing a few laughs in the process.

“Heather Land is a comedian out of Tennessee and she has been on a tour for the past year that has been sold out everywhere,” Seymour said. “I got to see her live and she was fantastic. It’s definitely a different direction than we’ve gone in the past, but it will be a lot to celebrate life with laughter so we’re really excited.”

The Brownwood Pregnancy Care Center is unique because it provides services to all women, regardless of income level, free of charge. Along with providing pregnancy testing, providing pre-natal vitamins education for soon-to-be mothers, the care center also allows mothers who make regular visits to acrue points and purchase items such as clothes, cribs, high-chairs and other items related to rearing newborns. The proceeds from the banquet go entirely to the pregnancy care center. Seymour said the reason Land, as well as previous guests Huckabee and Tebow, come to central Texas is the center’s reputation for making sure all of its resources go directly to the community it serves.

“It gives the center an incredible reputation that they knew when we have an event, we’re going to throw a big name out there so we can make the biggest impact on the community,” Seymour said.
