The re-vamped Your Special Day Event, formerly the Brownwood Area Bridal Fair, will kickoff Saturday, Jan. 19, offering a more diverse vendors to match the name change.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce sought to change to reflect the more diversified photographers, florist, DJs and party rentals and venues showcasing their services – hoping to make many area women’s special day a bit more personal whether for a wedding, prom or quinceanera.

“This is our seventh year and this year we have kind of revamped the name to Your Special Day so in can be inclusive to birthdays, quinceaneras and a wide variety of things,” said Rowonna McNeeley Brownwood Chamber of Commerce communications Manager. “A lot of venders branch off into the same areas. With the venues, you can have a birthday or graduation party out there. It gives [visitors] more variety and it helps the venders as well. They’re not just there for weddings.”

Your Special Day runs form 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. allowing visitors to plan ahead for their special day, sampling various products as well as receiving tips and techniques for planning special events. Your Special Day also allows event planners to meet with area businesses in a centralized location, inside the Brownwood Depot Civic and Cultural Center.

“I’m married and something like this is vital to just being able to meet some of the people that are planning these events and to meet people with experience planning events, picking their brains and getting some ideas,” McNeeley said.

The event is free to the public with doors opening at 11 a.m. and a beer and wine tasting at 12:30 p.m. Throughout the event, there will be door prize drawings as well as a grand prize drawing. McNeeley said many of the venders are small business owners and being able to impact an entrepreneur just starting a business or a seasoned, passionate small business owner is an added benefit to the event.

“We have to remember that small businesses are what helps make our community. It’s nice to be able to work with small businesses as well as large businesses,” McNeeley said. “… Sometimes we’re not aware of all our community has to offer in the way of where to have a birthday party or where you can by flowers for a special event or birthday. A lot of people may not realize there are several options.”

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will announce the prizes at a later date. For more information regarding Your Special Day contact the chamber at (325) 646-9535.
