During the first two years of the Best of Brown County Readers’ Choice Awards, 405 local business were honored in 2017 and that number increased to 525 in 2018, thanks to 138,613 votes. Now, the third annual Best of Brown County has arrived as the nomination period begins Sunday, March 24 and runs through Sunday, April 7.

Businesses that are not nominated by April 7 will be ineligible for the contest. To nominate an entry or cast a vote visit the ballot page brownwoodtx.com/bestofbrown, enter an email address and create a password to register. Then submit the name of the business in one of the 185 available categories this year, and that business is officially nominated.

Those who submit nominations and vote for their favorites can only do so once per subcategory. Nominating a business multiple times or casting more than one vote in a subcategory is prohibited.

After nominations are turned in, the five entries with the most nominations in each category will advance to the voting round. After the top five are tabulated, voting to decide the Best of Brown County will take place May 12-31. The winners will then be revealed during a grand gala event at the Brownwood Coliseum, sponsored by the Bulletin, on July 20.

If you nominate or vote in more than 25 subcategories, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card. One card will be given away after the nomination round and another after the voting round.

Businesses who would like to promote themselves in the Best of Brown County contest may also purchase advertising, though it is not a requirement. All votes in the Best of Brown County Readers’ Choice Awards are tallied by Second Street promotions.
