SWAT teams with the Brown Count Sheriff’s Office and Brownwood Police Department executed a search drug search warrant Thursday morning and a second one Friday morning, arresting two.

According to reports from the two agencies:

SWAT team members from both agencies served a drug search warrant at 7 a.m. Thurday at an apartment in the 3700 block of Savoy in Brownwood.

James Bryan Tawater, 55, was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram with intent to deliver in a drug free zone.

SWAT team members recovered two small bags of methamphetamine and a “dope kit” containing items related to distribution, a report by sheriff’s narcotics deputy Carlyle Gover states.

Tawater was arrested at the same location on Dec. 27 on a drug charge and was released on bond.

Tawater remained jailed Friday in lieu of $40,000 bond.

In furtherance of that investigation, SWAT team members from both agencies served a search warrant at 8 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of 13th in Brownwood.

Scott Wayne Bernard, 57, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Officers seized an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and 3.5 ounces of marijuana, police said.

Officers also located evidence indicating continued narcotics distribution, police said.
