A 69-year-old Brownwood man was indicted on allegations that he assaulted his wife and stepson in a March 11 altercation.
The June session of the Brown County Grand Jury indictments against Robert Danner for injury to an elderly injury and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Brown County District Clerk records state.
Danner remains jailed on those charges and on a parole violation warrant, Brown County Jail records state.
According to an earlier email from Brownwood police:
Officers were dispatched at ay to a residence in the 1700 block of Avenue A, where the caller reported a fight was in progress and a knife appeared to be involved.
A male victim, identified as Danner’s stepson, said he was threatened by another man with a knife. The victim led officers to a nearby camper where the suspect and his 71-year-old wife were located.
Officers were told an argument escalated to the point that the suspect threw his wife to the ground and held a pocketknife to the throat of the male victim, police said. The altercation followed an argument over the care of the man’s dog.
In an unrelated case, the grand jury returned indictments for evidence tampering and endangering a child against Devin Blake Winters, 29.
Winters is accused by indictment of endangering a child in November 2018 by “leaving open syringes or methamphetamine or marijuana or other controlled substances or other drug paraphernalia unsecured and accessible.” Winters also did not “voluntarily deliver the child to a designated emergency infant care provider,” the indictment alleges.
Winters is also accused by indictment of concealing marijuana. Winters remains jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $42,500, jail records state.
Nirav Dinesh Patel, 39, of Lubbock was indicted for DWI in connection with an August 2018 incident. The indictment contains a “deadly weapon notice” which alleges that Patel used a deadly weapon (vehicle) “during commission of a felony offense or during immediate flight.”
Officers were dispatched on Aug. 25 to a report of a hit-and-run vehicle accident in the 700 block of West Commerce, police said earlier. Officers located the vehicle and arrested Patel.
