Sheriff’s deputies will seek a warrant for a driver who dropped a bag with 351 grams of methamphetamine while fleeing a traffic stop Friday, sheriff’s officials said.

The bag also contained a small amount of marijuana and a loaded handgun.

According to an email from the sheriff’s office:

The incident began when Deputy Taylor Fletcher attempted a traffic stop to arrest a wanted person. During the contact, man fled in his vehicle, triggering a pursuit around the south side of Brownwood through multiple drug free zones.

The man eventually abandoned his vehicle, fled on foot into a pasture and lost a red bag as he scaled a fence. Inside the bag more plastic baggies were found containing the methamphetamine and less than an ounces of marijuana.

The handgun found in the bag had an extended magazine.

In unrelated incidents:

• A Blanket woman was arrested on DWI and resisting arrest charges after a traffic stop Friday in Early.

Charity Wittke, 29, is free on bond after her arrest by a deputy.

Deputy Marvin Simpson and game warden Travis Allen made a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Early Boulevard, sheriff’s officials said.

The driver was erratic and aggressive and refused to perform a field sobriety test. The driver walked toward her vehicle and resisted officers on the scene.

The driver was taken to the emergency room for a blood draw, where she resisted officers and removed the needle from her arm. After a third, and successful attempt to draw blood, the vials were filled.

• Simpson was dispatched Saturday to a residence on CR 551 on a domestic disturbance that had already occurred. While en route, Simpson was advised the victim was hysterical and was asked to speed up the response.

Upon arriving in the area of Lake Shore, Simpson met with a woman who said her live-in boyfriend had strangled her twice during a physical altercation at CR 551.

The woman had injuries consist with being strangled. Simpson and Sgt. Joe Thomas made contact with the suspect, who had two scratches on his neck that were defensive wounds.

Garrett Johnson, 27, was arrested on a charge of assault family violence strangulation, jail records state.

• Thomas was dispatched Sunday to property on CR 413, where fire personnel said it appeared someone had poured gasoline on the ground then lit a fire. The fire burned about 5 acres.
