Brownwood City Council members will consider ratifying City Manager Emily Crawford’s selection of a new fire chief when they meet Tuesday.
Fire Marsha Buddy Preston has been serving as interim chief since Eddy Wood resigned from the job in July to become division chief of the Saginaw Fire Department.
Council members will meet at 8:30 a.m. and enter executive session to consider a candidate for the fire chief, who will also have the duties of emergency management coordinator.
The council will reconvene into open session and consider taking action on appointing the new chief.
In other business Tuesday, council members will:
• Consider ratifying earlier action by the Brown County Commissioners Court to amend the contract regarding the number of Mobile Intensive Care Unit ambulances with Lifeguard Ambulance.
The EMS Advisory Committee earlier voted to recommend an amendment to allow for three full-time, fully staffed Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulances and a fourth truck to be MICU 80 percent of the time, and Basic Life Support up to 15 percent of the time, with a 5 percent buffer for unforeseen circumstances.
This will allow to Basic Life Support truck to treat and transport within its capabilities.
• Consider ratifying Brownwood Municipal Development District action to amend the economic development agreement with Steve Browder related to Buckhorn Town Ranch Phase III. The agreement is to reimburse the developer for some street and curb and gutter work, and to increase the total anticipated project costs to 4125,000.
The BMDD approved the agreement with Browder for the development of a 19-lot residential subdivision. Costs for street development are higher than originally estimated.
• Consider approving a resolution to declare four sections of outdate or damaged fire hose as surplus to be donated to the Brownwood school district, and a vent-a-hood at the former Senior Citizens Center at Camp Bowie to be sold or auctioned.
