A 47-year-old Brownwood man was sentenced Monday in 35th District Court to 40 years in prison for sexually abusing a young girl over a three-year period.
Dustin Thompson will serve the entire sentence and will not be eligible for parole, it was announced in court after Thompson pleaded guilty to continuous sexual assault of a young child.
Ellis sentenced Thompson after approving a plea bargain negotiated between First Assistant District Attorney Elisha Bird and defense attorney Kirk Fulk of Goldtwhaite.
Thompson was accused by indictment of abusing a girl under the age of 14 from 2011 to 2014. Thompson was also indicted as a repeat offender.
In July 2019, Thompson was about to take a polygraph at the Law Enforcement Center when he confessed to the crime, sheriff’s officials said earlier.
