Brownwood police are investigating the Sunday night armed robbery of the Dollar General store on U.S. Highway 377 South.
No arrests have been made in the robbery, which happened around closing time, Brownwood police said.
According to an email from police:
Officers were dispatched to the store at 10:10 p.m. on an armed robbery call. Officers learned an unknown male entered the store, said he had a gun and demanded money.
The male spoke primarily to one employee and told her more than once he had a gun and would shoot her if she did not comply. Once he received the money he ran out the door and out of view.
The suspect is described as slender and close to 6 feet tall. No facial descriptors or tattoos were noted.
In an unrelated incident, a Brownwood man is free on $50,000 bond after being arrested on a sexual assault charge.
Brownwood police began investigation in August 2018 after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted in the 3700 block of Savoy, police said.
The female victim knew the suspect and explained the incident to investigators. The case was presented to the January session of the Brown County Grand Jury, and the panel returned a sexual assault indictment against David Dwayne Morgan, 46, police said.
Morgan turned himself in to the Brown County Jail Sunday.
In another unrelated incident, Samuel Sanchez, 30, of Brownwood, was arrested after a traffic stop Sunday in Brownwood on a charge of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, police said.
After the traffic stop, the officer made observations of possible criminal activity. An Early K-9 officer responded, and the drug dog alerted on the vehicle, police said.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a small Ziploc type baggy was located that contained a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Several used Ziploc baggies and a digital scale were located, police said.
