The City of Brownwood has accepted the donation of a portable wheelchair swing for use in city parks.

Tim Schoen of GreenGo Feeders in Brownwood built the heavy-duty swing, and city council members have approved accepting the swing.

David Withers, director of parks and recreation, told council members the swing can be moved from park to park. Withers recommended the swing first be placed at Allcorn Park once playground equipment is reopened.

Withers said he has seen the swing. It is well built, has a 600-pound capacity and will fit any sized wheelchair, child or adult, Withers told the council.

The steel swing has several safety factors such as lock-down straps for the wheelchair, folding ramp for easy access, and safety stops so the swing does not swing too far either direction.
