Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Pflugerville Police Department has canceled this year’s National Night Out, which had been scheduled for Oct. 6.

While the city will not be gathering for block parties this year, police officials said, residents are encouraged to turn on porch lights and to show support for the community and the Police Department by decorating yards with signs, blue ribbons and positive messages on Oct. 6.

Last year, the National Association of Town Watch, which launched National Night Out in the mid-1980s, rated Pflugerville as having the second-best National Night Out event in Texas and the 13th best in the nation for cities with a population between 50,000 and 100,000 residents.

The placing was the fourth consecutive time Pflugerville has been picked by the association as either the best or second-best in Texas and as one of the top 50 in the entire nation.
