Brownwood Regional Medical Center has been selected by The Texas Workforce Commission for the 2009 Employer Award of Excellence, officials announced Wednesday.
Every year, each local Workforce Development Board identifies an outstanding employer from its local area for an award of excellence. This year, Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas will recognize BRMC at the TWC’s annual Workforce Conference held at the Gaylord Texan Hotel.
Brownwood Regional Medical Center has implemented internal and external programs that are unique to a community based hospital that impact operations of the hospital and the community at large, Workforce officials said. Some of the indicators TWC considered when choosing its award winner included employee turnover, a partnership with Angelo State working with nurses to bridge from LVN to RN, a partnership with Brownwood Independent School District to assist in implementing health career training for their students and internal incentives for current BRMC employees to further their education with tuition reimbursement.
“Brownwood Regional Medical Center prides itself on providing a work-life balance,” said att Maxfield, CEO Brownwood Regional Medical Center. “We are large enough to provide quality progressive care, but small enough that everyone knows your name. Our employees become more than just team members they become friends and part of the BRMC family.”
“The management staff at Brownwood Regional Medical Center is very engaged with all of our employees,” Human Resources Director Mikeana Bailey said. “You will see them making rounds, not only on patients but on our employees, serving at various functions in the community and always taking that extra step to ensure patients and their employees are satisfied.”
