Bulletin Staff Report
The City of Brownwood will again offer a Christmas tree mulching service this year, beginning today and continuing through Jan. 15, 2008.
Tim Airheart, assistant director of public works, said live Christmas trees may be brought to the Recycling Center at 6800 FM 45 South, one mile south of the Groner Pitts National Guard Armory.
Trees may also be brought to the downtown location through Jan. 15 in the parking lot at Brady Avenue and Avenue A, under the Austin Avenue overpass.
Trees that are collected will be recycled into mulch.
Trees left for recycling must be free of lights, decorations and tree stands, and must not be wrapped in plastic or netting, Airheart emphasized.
The Recycling Center has been closed this week for the Christmas holidays, but will reopen today. City sanitation pickups will also resume.
For residents with blue or green carts, Monday’s route will be collected today. Tuesday’s route will be collected on Thursday. Thursday’s route will be collected on Friday. Friday’s route will be collected on Saturday.
