A Zephyr woman was killed and three were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 12:43 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of FM 2126 and FM 2525 – the Camp Bowie Access Road and Williams Ranch Road.
Catherine Frommel Lancaster, 79, of Zephyr was pronounced dead at 2:21 p.m. at Brownwood Regional Medical Center by Dr. Stephen Oines, according to Senior Trooper Sparky Dean of the Texas Highway Patrol.
Dean said Lancaster was the driver of a 1990 Lincoln Towncar in which her husband, Carroll Lancaster, 80, of Zephyr was a passenger. He was among the three taken to Brownwood Regional, all with what was described as minor trauma. He was wearing a seat belt, but his wife was not.
Also injured were Joe Earl Hataway, 58, of Brownwood, the driver of a 2000 Chevrolet van. Jakob Michael Hataway, 6, of Brownwood was a passenger in the van. Both were wearing seat belts.
The accident is being investigated by Trooper Cristobal Martinez Delgado.
The Lincoln was traveling east on FM 2525, and the Chevrolet was traveling south on FM 2126, Dean said. The Lincoln did not stop at the intersection and collided with the van. Both vehicles spun off the roadway to the east side of FM 2126. The roadway was dry, and the weather was clear.
Dean said Lancaster’s body was taken to Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
