Special to the Bulletin
The Brownwood Air Evac Lifeteam air ambulance crew recently visited the Brownwood Latch Key Program. During the visit, the crew was able to talk with the children about the Air Evac mission, their jobs and discuss safety.
“This visit gave us a perfect opportunity to share with the kids and teachers what Air Evac does and how we work with our local EMS and other responders at the scenes of medical and traumatic emergencies,” explained flight paramedic John Whitt. “It was also a great opportunity to discuss safety with the kids especially with summer approaching.”
The Brownwood Air Evac Lifeteam base, located on the campus of Brownwood Regional Medical Center, began operations in June of 2002 and serves hospitals and communities within a 70-mile radius. Crews, which include a pilot, nurse and paramedic, can fly directly to the scenes of medical or traumatic emergencies or make hospital transfers.
Air Evac operates 69 bases in 11 states throughout the central United States. For more information about Air Evac Lifeteam, call 1-800-793-0010 or visit www.lifeteam.net.
