Bulletin Staff Report

Bill Crist, associate publisher of the Brownwood Bulletin, has been elected incoming president of the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce. He was named to the position at Monday’s board of directors meeting, Executive Director Laura Terhune announced.

His one-year term will begin April 1.

“I am excited, although also a little nervous, about the board’s selection,” Crist said. “I’ve been involved with the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce in a number of ways over the years, and feel privileged to have been elected to chair its board in the coming year. The chamber has a strong staff in place that has already implemented many of the programs and services that will strengthen our organization even further into the future.”

Crist was appointed to the board of directors in 2004 to fill an unexpired term and was elected to a full term on the board in 2005. Current chamber President Jeff Turner will present the ceremonial gavel to Crist on Thursday, April 12 during the chamber’s annual banquet and celebration.

“Bill has been a dedicated board member these past three years,” Turner said. “He has been a thoughtful supporter of the governance policies we have implemented in the past few months. Although we have several very strong leaders on the board right now, Bill seemed like an obvious choice to take the reins at this time.”

“Please join the staff, volunteers and board of directors in congratulating Bill Crist on his election,” Terhune said. “We look forward to a great year with Bill at the helm.”
