EARLY — Early High School Principal Wes Beck has accepted the superintendent’s position for the Shamrock Independent School District, in the Texas Panhandle.
Beck, and his wife Lisa, a teacher for the EISD’s gifted and talented program, have been with the district for four years. They came here from Stephenville, where Beck had spent all of his teaching and education administrative career since graduating from Tarleton State University 23 years before.
Shamrock, located in the Texas Panhandle, is a 1A school with a total student enrollment of 320.
The EISD board of trustees accepted both Wes and Lisa Beck’s resignations Tuesday night in a regular session trustees’ meeting.
Shawn Russell, who has served as president of the board for 10 years and was re-elected Tuesday to another one-year term, said Lisa Beck will teach at Shamrock.
Russell said EISD Superintendent Brett Koch had appointed a search committee to find a high school principal, and the committee met for the first time Tuesday.
Resignations were also accepted from three teachers: Nadir Dalleh, who will leave the district to go to Brownwood; Kitty Taylor and Margaret Blackburn. Rhonda Bertrand, an assistant choir director, also tendered her resignation.
At Tuesday’s meeting, three board members — Early school board trustees Ray Bertrand for Place 3, James Cooley Jr. for Place 5 and Mike Kingston for Place 4 — were sworn in to begin their new terms.
Bertrand, Cooley and Kingston, all incumbents on the board, were unopposed in Saturday’s election.
Besides Russell being elected board president, Ray Bertrand was elected vice president and Gary Bowen was elected secretary.
