Jean Evelyn LaRoe Markham Conger, 87, of Rockwall, passed away on Feb. 8, 2016 in Rockwall. Mrs. Conger was born Aug. 3, 1928 in Happy, to Homer Travis and Ethel Duff LaRoe. She grew up in Happy and graduated from high school there. She married Harold C. “Mark” Markham, and they had four children. After the death of Mr. Markham, she married Dan Conger in 1988.
Mrs. Conger retired from Sears, where she was a store manager in Coolidge, Ariz. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and loved her church families in Coolidge, Ariz. and Rockwall.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Lowe of Brownwood; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Joan Markham of Rockwall, and Johnny and Bessie Conger of Coolidge, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty LaRoe of Amarillio; and daughter and son-in-law at heart, Faye and Lee Skiles of Coolidge, Ariz.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Marolyn Buchanan and Pamela Skiles; and two brothers, James Shirley LaRoe and Willie Travis “Bill” LaRoe.
Mrs. Conger donated her earthly body to University of Texas Southwest Medical Center. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
