SAN SABA — Funeral services for Donald Eugene Skelton, 74, of Richland Springs, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Richland Springs. Burial will follow at Richland Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba.

He died Sunday, March 6, 2016.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1941 to James and Opella (White) Skelton in Locker. He married Ginger Till in Richland Springs on Oct. 20, 1962. He was City Water Superintendent for Richland Springs for almost 44 years and the longtime owner/operator of Don Skelton’s Welding and Hardware in downtown Richland Springs. He was a long time member of the San Saba County EMS, and an original member of the Richland Springs Volunteer Fire Department where he served as the Fire Chief for many years.

Survivors include wife, Ginger; mother, Opella Juanita Skelton; two daughters, Laura Elizabeth Garcia and husband Robert of Brownwood, and Kristy Lynne Perry and husband Chris of Cherokee; one brother, Kelly Skelton and wife Diana,of Brownwood; Kim Jones, who he considered his daughter; two sisters, Toni Carroll and husband Clayton and Debbie Corkin and husband Andy, both of Midlothian; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; and brother-in-law, Bill Barefield.
