COMANCHE — Funeral services for Wanda Lee Carney, 88, of Comanche, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Comanche with Dr. Van Christian and Linda McKeehan officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Comanche Funeral Home.
She died Monday, April 4, 2016 in Waco.
She was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Hamilton to Mack Havens and Lottie Neola Cormany. On Feb. 24, 1946, she married Sidney Alec Carney in Hamilton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Comanche where she taught the Young Married Sunday School Class for 54 years, the Ladies Bible Study for many years and was a member of the Bereavement Committee. Wanda served as a member of the Wee Care Volunteer at Western Hills Nursing Home since 1980, and was an integral part of the American Cancer Society in Comanche.
Survivors include her son, Sidney Mac Carney and wife Frankie of Richmond; daughter, Deborah Ann Johnston of Comanche; daughter, Christina Flannery and husband Bill of Comanche; daughter, Carol Jane Carney of Brenham; daughter, Alexis Lee McJilton and husband John of San Antonio; five grandsons and four granddaughters; sister, Patricia Ann Lester and husband Tommy of Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
